"In the seventh month, on the first of the month, there shall be a sabbath for you, a remembrance with shofar blasts, a holy convocation." Leviticus 16:24

ROSH HASHANAH GREETINGS: The Jewish High Holy Days are observed during the 10 day period between the first day (Rosh Hashanah) and the 10th day (Yom Kippur) of Tishri, the seventh month of the Jewish calendar. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are the most important of all Jewish Holidays, heralded by the blowing of a shofar, a trumpet made from a ram's horn. Rosh Hashanah, (the Jewish New Year,) will begin this year at sunset, Wed. Sept 12th and will be celebrated for two days. The holiday will usher in a time of reflection, prayer, family gatherings, special meals and eating apples dipped in honey; a symbol of the hope for a sweet new year. Staff members at Vision For Israel & The Joseph Storehouse extend warmest greetings to our readers and blessings for a prosperous and fruitful new year. "Fear not little flock for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12:32

BIBLICAL BEEHIVES UNCOVERED: The earliest beehive compound currently known has been discovered by archaeologists in a dig near Beit She'an in the Jordan Valley. The complex from the period of Israel's kings is dated to the 10th–9th centuries B.C.E. It contains three rows of beehives, for a total of 30 and another 70 are believed to have been there as well. Israeli bee keepers have estimated a half-ton of honey could have been harvested each year from the excavated area. Israel presently produces 3,000 tons of honey each year, an abundance of sweetness. (Source: INN) "I will give to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey." Lev. 20:24

ANCIENT TUNNEL DISCOVERED IN JERUSALEM: Israeli archaeologists on Sunday said they've stumbled upon the site of one of the great dramatic scenes of the Roman sacking of Jerusalem 2,000 years ago: the subterranean drainage channel Jews used to escape from the city's Roman conquerors. The discovery was a momentous sign of how the city's rulers looked out for the welfare of their citizens by organizing a system that drained the rainfall and prevented flooding. But what makes the channel doubly significant is its role as an escape hatch for Jews desperate to flee the conquering Romans, the dig's directors said. ( J.Post) "He tunnels through the rock; his eyes see all its treasures." Job 28:10

RECORD SUMMER OF IMMIGRATION: This year's number of olim (immigrants) from Western countries is the highest it has been in years. More than 3,000 newcomers from English-speaking countries are expected to have resettled in Israel by the end of 2007. PM Olmert was present last week to welcome 210 new immigrants from the US and Canada. Their arrival marked the conclusion of a record summer for immigration from North America and Britain. The flight included a baby, a senior citizen aged 93, and 96 unmarried adults. (INN) "I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land." Ezekiel 37:21

ISRAELI LEADERS WARN AGAINST PEACE DEAL WITH PALESTINIANS: Minister of Internal Security Avi Dichter along with many leading Israeli politicians have warned against conducting final status peace negotiations with the Palestinians at this time. Dichter said, "There isn't a chance to have a comprehensive permanent agreement under existing conditions and anyone who thinks it's the way to go needs to open their eyes and stop dreaming." Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman said the previous ten years of peacemaking with the PA had shown "territorial concessions lead directly to escalation and an increase in terror." Benjamin Netanyahu stated: "There is simply no Palestinian partner." Olmert, Abbas and the Bush Administration have hinted a November peace summit will conclude with laying the foundation for a final status peace agreement. (Israel Today) "This is what the Lord says:"Cries of fear are heard, terror, not peace."Jeremiah 30:5

GENTILE NE0-NAZI GROUP UNCOVERED IN ISRAEL: Petah Tikva police, this week, seized 5 kilograms of explosives, a pistol, and an M-16 assault rifle belonging to a group of neo-Nazi youths. The suspects, aged 17 to 19, confessed to brutally attacking dozens of people, mainly foreign workers around Tel Aviv's central bus station and Carmel market. The exposure of a neo-Nazi cell in Israel has met with outrage in the Knesset and across the country. MKs have called for harsh penalties and the deportation of all neo-Nazis found in Israel. (Haaretz)

HARDLINE TAKEOVER OF BRITISH MOSQUES: UK police say the Muslim extremist Deobandi movement, which gave birth to the Taliban in Afghanistan, now runs almost half of Britain's 1,350 mosques. One foremost leader of the sect loathes Western values, preaches contempt for Jews, Christians and Hindus, and calls on Muslims to "spill blood," for Allah. Seventeen of Britain's 26 Islamic seminaries are run by Deobandis and produce 80% of locally-trained Muslim clerics who share a similar radical agenda. Britain's spiraling antisemitic violence can only be expected to continue under such destructive and widespread Islamist influence. (UK Times/IHC) "Deep darkness is their morning; they make friends with the terrors of darkness." Job 24:17

JEWS ATTACKED IN UZBEKISTAN AND GERMANY: A rabbi was stabbed in Frankfurt's financial district last Friday as he waked home from synagogue. A man approached him, spoke in Arabic, then yelled in German for him to "die" while stabbing him in the stomach. The rabbi reached a local hospital and has survived the attack after an operation. In a previous incident, 6 September, Mark Weil, a theater director in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, was found murdered near his home. His body was covered with knife wounds. (INN)

PALESTINIAN TERROR WEBSITES HOSTED IN US: The US is hosting three websites sponsored by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. The sites which further terrorist violence against Israel and subscribe to Islamic global control are being provided hosting services by Dallas-based internet companies. The domain names for all three websites are registered with Internet giant Yahoo. It is against US law for American businesses to provide paid or free services to terrorist groups. (Israel Today)
