"'Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion, for I am coming, and I will live among you,' declares the Lord. Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people." Zechariah 2: 10-12
SUCCOT GREETINGS: The festival of Succot, the last of the Jewish fall holidays, starts this year at sunset on Wednesday September 26th. Tabernacles (Succot) is a week long occasion of gratitude and praise to the God of Israel. All nations will join in the annual Succot celebration during the Kingdom age. Warmest holiday blessings from Vision for Israel & Joseph Storehouse staff members.
ARCHEOLOGISTS FIND 2ND TEMPLE QUARRY: In a major archeological discovery, an ancient quarry that supplied huge high-quality limestone for the construction of the Temple Mount has been uncovered in Jerusalem. The quarry, located four km northwest of Jerusalem's Old City, was used two thousand years ago during the construction of the Second Temple. The discovery comes as the state-run archeological body is immersed in a bitter controversy over recent Islamic work on the Temple Mount, which Israeli archeologists say has damaged antiquities at the site. ISRAEL ON HIGH ALERT ON SYRIAN BORDER: Israel has been on high alert for an outbreak of military hostility from Syria following an Israeli air force raid on a nuclear installation in Syria, September 6th 2007. Israeli intelligence spent months gathering evidence of North Korean nuclear equipment being installed in the country. Arabic-speaking Israeli soldiers disguised as Syrian soldiers gained access to the facility housing the equipment. Washington allegedly gave a green light to the Israeli raid upon being presented with evidence of the nuclear activity. Officials in Damascus have said they are eager to respond to that attack, and Israel is taking the threat of war seriously. (IHC) "Never again will an oppressor overrun my people, for now I am keeping watch." Zechariah 9:9
CRASHED SYRIAN FIGHTER CAUSES SCARE IN ISRAEL: During the Yom Kippur fast on Saturday September 22nd, Israel air force fighter jets were directed to the northern border with Syria after a Syrian military plane disappeared from IDF radar systems. Shortly thereafter the missing aircraft was discovered to have crashed on the Syrian side of the border. Israeli officials decided it was not intended aggression against the Jewish State. NEW WEB SITE PREPARES ISRAELIS FOR MISSILE ATTACK: The Home Front Command this week announced a new website with information in English, Arabic and Hebrew. The website describes in detail threats facing the Jewish nation, including long-range missiles, mortars, Qassam rockets, chemical and biological weapons and terror attacks. The website instructs about chemical and biological substances and how to counter their effects. It encourages families to discuss website information even with their younger members, while conveying a sense of confidence and ability to cope as a family unit. ISRAEL DECLARES GAZA TO BE AN ENEMY ENTITY: Israel's security cabinet last week officially declared Hamas-controlled Gaza to be an enemy of the Jewish State. The decision came days after Palestinian rocket fire wounded 67 IDF young people in a mid-night attack on their basic training camp in southern Israel. Security ministers also approved sanctions against Gaza in retaliation for unceasing Qassam rocket assaults upon the southern Negev town of Sderot and other residential centers in the area. (Israel Today) "But the Lord will take away her [Gaza's] possessions...and she will be consumed by fire." Zechariah 9: 4
FATAH HINTS AT RECONCILIATION WITH HAMAS AFTER NOVEMBER: The supposedly repentant Fatah terrorist entity has secured millions of dollars of foreign aid money, the release of several hundred of its members serving time in Israeli jails, and loads of foreign munitions to bolster it against rival terrorist group Hamas. Fatah leaders are now hinting, or perhaps the word is "threatening", to make up with Hamas following the Washington DC Olmert-Abbas-Bush conference in November. One Fatah spokesman said if Israel did not make enough concessions, Fatah would choose "the path of Hamas." Hamas officials are confident they will inherit concessions Fatah manages to extract from Israel in Judea and Samaria. Mahmoud Abbas weeks ago promised US leaders there would be no reconciliation with Hamas. (INN/IHC) "The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them." Psalm 2:4
JEWISH GROUPS WELCOME TRAVEL INSURANCE LAW: Jewish groups are celebrating the passage of a bill last week in the US congress banning insurance companies from discriminating against travelers to Israel. Travelers repeatedly find they are rejected for coverage by life insurance companies, or given options of paying inordinately high policy fees, upon listing Israel as their destination. (JTA)
