"Because thou hast a perpetual hatred, and has shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end: therefore as I live, said the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee, since thou hast not hated blood..." -Ezekiel 35:5-6.
The people of Israel are angry but, except in rare instances, do not hate. This in itself I find amazing. Anger is a valid response to a people who have openly declared their hatred for you and their aim to destroy you and your children and nation, and who continue to act on their aim with deadly attacks on your civilian population for years. The very impetus for their lives is founded upon Hatred, which is taught to their little children in school, on TV, and in the mosque. This I have seen with my own eyes. There is simply no equivalent in Israel.
The people of Israel are also disappointed at a world media in Europe and the Arab world, that reports our war in defending ourselves against terrorism without the broader context, creating sympathy for the Hamas terror organization by citing their suffering under Israel's refusal to open its gates to the inhabitants of Gaza, likening it to the Jewish ghettos the Nazis forced our fathers into. There has been no mention whatever that Israel has put up and controlled those gates in order to stop the long series of suicide bombers that entered Israel's cities to indescriminately murder people on buses, in cafes, clubs and schools. And who wish to continue those acts. Nor is there mention of Israel's withdrawal from Gaza.
The people of Israel are also sad to have to protect their children from the Hamas attacks while the Hamas fighters station themselves with civilian populations to attack us, hoping for Israeli responses and child casualties to send to the media as a propaganda weapon. How unbelievably sad.
But recently we were overjoyed to hear the testamony of the son of one of Hamas' leaders and founders here who came to the knowledge of the Messiah. He himself was a youth leader in the Hamas movement, and had never read the Bible, only the Quran, being a devout Muslim. After 18 months in an Israeli prison where he saw how the Hamas treated each other with fear and torture, suspecting each other of "collaboration" with Israel, he was released and in the Old City of Jerusalem met a believer who asked him to come to a study of the Bible. When he saw the words of Yeshua, "love your enemies" his heart was deeply moved. After a deep internal struggle he committed his life to the Lord. He is now in the USA speaking out against the hatred and deception of Hamas, and of Islam. He now is professing the Gospel of Jesus as the answer for his own people. We heard him say that Islam may appear to be growing, but it is collapsing from within because it does not answer the needs and questions of the people. He has several "fatwas" (Islamic death sentences) againsty him, so please pray for him and others from the dark world of Islam who had walked in the valley of the shadow of death and hatred, and have now seen the great light of the love of God.
