Hi Everyone,
Thankyou for your many emails and phone calls and above all THANKS FOR YOUR
PRAYERS.
We are now in the 4th day of the first ever attack by the Lebanese Hizbullah
Militia on the city of Tiberias...my home town here in Israel.
Last Saturday, I was here in my home when the waves of Katusha rockets
bombarded the city resulting in significant damage.
The rockets landed just up the road from my apartment. Seven people were
treated for shrapnel injuries and property damage here in Tiberias is
reported as extensive.
Over 50 people were injured with most suffering from various levels of
anxiety and hysteria following the rocket attacks.
The attacks continue here in the North of Israel.
At the time of writing I can hear the sirens going off here in Tiberias,
most people will have already gone into their shelters, but as I don't have
one in my apartment and I want to get this news to all of you I am sitting
it out in front of my computer and trusting in my wonderful Saviour and
feeling His Amazing Grace all over me.
Things have happened so quickly here in Tiberias that I have lost track of
time.
Most of the local residents are in shock, probably because an attack here
was the last thing anyone expected.
However, the Lord showed me even before I moved into this apartment that an
attack was coming to the north of Israel.
My balcony looks out over the sea of Galilee opposite the Golan and Syria,
to my left is Lebanon.
I can remember the blasts on Shabbat which seemed to echo all over the
valley and throughout the whole of Tiberias.
I went out onto my balcony (not a wise thing to do)...and the sea was
covered with boats, people were swimming and jet ski-ing. It was a typical
Shabbat with families resting and enjoying the sunshine.
Suddenly it was as if a dark menacing cloud had descended over the whole
area. Even though the sun was still shining there was a chill in the air.
It's incredible how "evil" is a "felt" thing.
The blasts continued, followed by sirens, then the sounds of police cars and
ambulances.
Within minutes the sea of Galilee was emptied of all the pleasure boats and
jet ski-iers, the roads were deserted and everything took on an eerie
silence.
Today that silence continues, as people remain in their safe rooms and their
bomb shelters.
All the tourists have gone home. Mysteriously disappeared. The economy of
Tiberias has been hit too by this attack.
Restaurants, shops, banks and offices are all shut
Police patrol cars drive around the city of Tiberias, and boats patrol the
sea of Galilee.
It's like another world.
Many of the local residents are in shock.
Most of the families in my apartment block moved down under the building
taking mattresses and blankets, food and baby's toys etc.
Others are moving out of the city altogether and staying with Jewish
families in safer parts of Israel who are offering accommodation to people
fleeing from the north.
Everyone seems to be hiding or moving out.
I was one of them.
My friends invited me to stay with them in Porrya, just up the mountain
above Tiberias.
It's good to be with other believers and not alone, but even there, as we
lie in our beds at night we can hear the planes flying overhead as Israel's
airforce patrols the skies protecting it's people below. I can hear them now
as I am writing this letter.
My heart goes out to all the young men in the Israeli Army, Navy and
Airforce, whose lives are at risk on a daily basis in a war that never ends.
As you know an Israeli ship was hit by a rocket made in Iran, and portions
of the rockets that hit Haifa yesterday with incredible precision have been
traced back to Iran and Syria.
So far over 800 rockets have bombarded the Israeli skies.
However what our enemies are suffering in Lebanon is far worse and we must
pray for them too, and for an end to this war of terror.
The village of Porrya (where I have been sleeping) is a mostly Christian
community.
Everyone knows everyone else and we just pop in and out of each others
homes.
I feel so safe here with my friends and their pet dogs who sleep beside my
bed.
However, I know that I must return to my home in Tiberias and share the
underground shelter with my Jewish neighbours, and use this time to share
the love of Yeshua with them.
The Lord is reminding me that we are to "Love our neighbour as
ourself"...and what greater love had any man than this? To lay down His
life for His friends!
Jesus was willing to go all the way for us.
The war continues and who knows how it will end.
We only know for sure that it WILL END.
When the Jewish people cry out "Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the
Lord"....
Then Jesus will come once again to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel.
In the meantime we continue to pray, spread the Gospel message of His
unending love, and observe the daily miracles of His salvation.
Hearts are open, the people long for an end to this violence and terror,
they are searching for answers. There is only ONE answer to their hearts
cry....Jesus.
Please continue to pray for the salvation of souls here in Israel.
Pray for the safety of the airport in Tel Aviv. For protection over all
those whe are coming and going in order to be with friends and family at
this time.
I am flying back to the UK on a brief visit to see my family on July 27th.
Pray for all the believers here to fulfill their purpose in Him, to prepare
for the harvest, to be more than conquerors in His Army.
Shalom and Much Love.
